An open-source, federated content repository

Google Summer of Code 2009

Red Hat has been accepted as a mentor organization for this year’s Google Summer of Code, sponsoring projects around Fedora and JBoss.org open source projects. Here’s our mentor organization page.

If you’re a student looking for project ideas, get familiar with the timeline. Between March 18 and 23, talk to a mentoring organization about project ideas. Proposals can be submitted beginning on March 23 and all must be in by April 3. Mentors can then discuss the proposals and request changes through April 15.

Also take a look at the Fedora project ideas and those from JBoss.org. That last link includes a few ideas around JBoss DNA. Of course, we’re open to other ideas, too. Join the Red Hat discussion group, look for a mentor, and get ready to propose a project!

ModeShape is

a lightweight, fast, pluggable, open-source JCR repository that federates and unifies content from multiple systems, including files systems, databases, data grids, other repositories, etc.

Use the JCR API to access the information you already have, or use it like a conventional JCR system (just with more ways to persist your content).

ModeShape used to be 'JBoss DNA'. It's the same project, same community, same license, and same software.
